I sure would like to hear what happened. Every time "work redesign" comes up it seems like the company can't fly everyone to Wickliffe fast enough. They constantly say how you guys "got it going on" and that "it works great in Wickliffe".
Could it be that it actually isn't perfect? Please share more if you can as we are facing this exact thing right now at the table. If you don't think you should put it on here, please private message me or call my cell...906-553-2559. I'd love to hear more.

You know, I dont mind the idea of what work redesign is supposed to be... high performance work teams, people who are more knowledgable about their jobs able to make decisions, etc... It just happens that every so often they decide out of the blue to pull something back. When they do it just happens. You have no choice. You have no say so. They just look at you, if not just through an email, and say "its a company decision". We have heard this about meetings, training, overtime and others. I tell ya, writing while I am p*ss*d is not a good thing. I assum the front office and my super will tell me that either tomorrow or next week after the note I just replied to.

I am sure one other person in particular that we both know from here will want to chime in on this. He probably wont like my little man in my first message (he wants to keep this board clean).

Work Redesign can work and be better for everyone but ..... make sure it is well thought out on your end and protections built in to any agreement that the union can use. We can and will be more specific with you any time just maybe not all on here

Also, it really impresses me how fast you guys catch things on this board. I wish our own were this interested! Maybe after elections.

Thanks tdl. When we get into job redesign at the table, I'm going to look you up for some of those "built in protections" you talked about. I sure appreciate your input.
By the way, I don't live on the computer, I've been gone for a few days and I'm trying to get caught up. I do check ours between 5 to 10 times a day though just to be quick with a reply if someone is asking a question. These web sites are great and I place ours right up there with our newsletter and CAT report as far as communication goes.
Take care.

Your right about everything, including the picture
Everyone who know's me can vouch I was very active in work redesign in the beginning....until management started making changes, now mind you, this was supposed to become part of the Contract. Now in order to change anything in the Contract it must be done by membership vote right....wrong. And this is how I wind up in so much trouble around here can't keep from popping off a few words
Redesign is a good thing IF, both sides commit to it, can't be one sided. But as long as the Trust is not there it WILL NOT WORK. And that is why its not working here. So don't let anyone try to blow smoke up your ass. I really do wish it would work because now days you have to put a little more into your work to keep the doors open. Don't get me wrong but its on both ends here not all company's fault, they just started it.
Enough of the book now, and I'm not even pissed right now and still wrote a book
Take care
David
