Hello,
How does the company plan on running this place with so many cuts? The machine alone will have 13 positions gone. Most of the new hires are on the machine and will be the ones to go. So how do they plan an filling in the gaps.
Surly they can not be this big of an idiot and go thru all the cuts. What I see happening is alot of people getting hurt because of their dumb asses. So let us in on the scoop and what kind of crap are they trying to pull.
Thank you

I don't know how your flex language is defined, but with the flow to the work flex NewPage is promoting, they will train most people on many jobs, and you will simply be "flexed to the work".

In other words the paper machine jobs in question.... will be filled with coater or super people.. whoever is available at the time of turn-up or web separation.....

What basically happens with this is: You lose your autonomy, your ownership to a job.. You will basically be responsible for multiple areas.

Don't let the company shit you....... They will use this and eliminate jobs.. If they say this "flexibility" will not eliminate jobs... you don't have to look very far to see the ramifications regarding flex... the central Wisconsin mills are living proof of this .. and look at the question you asked..... You my friend will be flexed up to the machine to aid them...

Don't forget NewPage/Cerberus are ruthless bastards..

I talked with Gurvey this afternoon, several things going on. He was told  this morning his crew will be working 1 day (Monday) then sent home for the rest of the week once again. He has tried to get in touch with Mazzone with no luck.
What he did say was that we are going to try and get a meeting sometime in the morning to try to get some information to cool down some of the rumors. So if we get the meeting I will post the update as soon as I get back in the mill.
All I can say now is stay strong and we will all deal with this together.
Millfreak thanks for the input. We need all the help and information we can get from the other mills. You have been a big help several times already, and I just want to say thanks once again.

You guys are in for a battle. It's hard to comment without understanding your contract....things like defined lines of progression, flexibility, or curtailment language just to name a few. Millfreak said it best when he called them a bunch of ruthless bastards.
One thing that is clear in every facility though is "UNITY"!!! It's in these times that a Local can become stronger if handled correctly. If I could add my 2 cents....keep your members informed....every day on every thing.
David, please know if there is ANYTHING we can do to help, just say the word and we're on it.

Best of luck to all of you,
Bryon

We will have updates on this tomorrow some time. Gurvey has set up a meeting with Management sometime tomorrow, would not give us a time. Just as soon as we hear something I will be putting it on here.
Thanks
David

I agree with that 100%

I have heard several ppl say that David has come to them and told them about what was going on...even if there isn't much info to give, just to show that he gives a damn to tell what little he can to us means a whole hell of a lot right now....i wish everyone were as dedicated as Dave , we sure could use it right now

Need to add just 1 more question. When will there be another meeting over the cuts. And will someone come around to let us know what went on at the meeting. Thanks again.

Its part of the job keeping the membership updated. That was the whole purpose of starting up the website and the message board. If Gurvey lived as close to the mill as I do he would be in there more often. A few years ago we had a different website thanks to Gurvey.
The website and message board would be a little better if he would learn a little more about computers . When I went around passing the information on how to register for the message board, I found out there are a lot of our members do not even have a computer at home much less use them. Hell I just took it for granted that everybody had computers now days....wrong. So this is one of the reasons you see me more around the mill.
While on the subject of being in the mill, we need to have a raffle for Tommy Burpo, but with everything else going on right now I am going to have it at a later date.
Thanks

Special meeting at the Union Hall this Thursday. We will be having 3 meetings. First one is at 4:00 PM, then at 5:30 PM and the last will be at 7 PM.
We will be going over all the information that the company has brought back to the membership. Everyone who attends the meetings will be up to date with us. At the end of each meeting we will be holding a vote on weather to accept of reject the offer.
I hope to see a crowd at the hall.
